The Lithonia City Council voted to approve the following items:


    1.  The Official Zoning Map of the City of Lithonia was amended to change 2449 Bruce Street from R-60 to O-I to allow for the development of a new Senior Center by DeKalb County.  The site will preserve the remains of the historic Bruce Street School.


    2. The proposed amendments to Chapter 27, the City of Lithonia Zoning Ordinance pertain to Article I, Division 2, Section 27-31. Definitions, to Article IV. Supplemental Regulations and to Article II which encompasses the Single Family Residential Districts of the Ordinance. The proposed amendments will define and establish standards for “accessory dwellings,” and introduce this dwelling type as a permitted use in the R-85 Single Family Residential District, the R-60 Single Family Residential District, the R-A5 Single Family Residential District, the R-50 Single Family Residential District, the R-A8 Single Family Residential District and the NCD Neighborhood Conservation District.


    3. The amendments to Chapter 21, Article V of the City of Lithonia, Georgia Code of Ordinances, known as the “City of Lithonia Sign Ordinance” pertain to Article 3. General Rules, Section 8. General Sign Regulations, specifically to the standards concerning projecting and suspended signs.
